I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 10 years working in mental health crisis services, trauma recovery units, hospitals, university education mental health services, charity sector, independent clinical settings and in private practice.


Prior to this, I worked in business and industry for over 25 years.

 

Business and industry background: International Trade for private and government-owned shipping companies and mining corporations; Subscriptions Manager in Publishing; Succession planning in the construction industry.

 

Healthcare: Site audits and managing nursing registrations for a Care Home Group; Finance and business planning for a nursing training college.

 

Mental Health: Extensive and specialist training and experience, including; counselling survivors of childhood sexual abuse; counsellor in long-term trauma-recovery (2 years); Psycho-oncologist in an NHS hospital (2 years); Student Mentor in Universities and Colleges for students with disabilities and different learning needs (9 years); Counsellor and psychotherapist with charities in the construction and automotive industries, with EAP organisations treating mental health crisis and trauma recovery including the criminal justice sector; counselling prison officers and probation officers; emergency services support working with ambulance and paramedic teams; and running a successful independent private practice (10 years). I offer experienced and professional support with personal and family issues, workplace disputes, disciplinary proceedings and workplace injury.

 

Supervisor: I am a fully qualified Clinical Counselling Supervisor, supervising the case load of individual counsellors and psychotherapists.

 

Coach: I offer Executive Coaching to individuals and professionals who are experiencing difficult career decisions, highly stressful working environments, work overload and burnout and the challenges of managing professional, public and family life.

 

My business background proves helpful when working with clients working in corporate sectors across a range of industries and in a wide variety of professional roles. I have supported staff in organisations including HMP Prison Service; Emergency Medical Services including paramedics, nurses, doctors; Care Home managers; Metropolitan Police; Royal Mail; Public and Independent School Principals and leaders; City of London Finance executives; Board members across industry; and many others. I understand the nature of corporate environments and how this contributes to workplace dynamics, disputes and the effects of work overload, stress and burnout.

  • Clinical Counselling Supervisor (LM Counselling) - I supervise the clinical practice of other counsellors and psychotherapists.
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling (National Counselling Society)
  • Trauma and PTSD training (British Psychological Society)
  • CBT training (Hemmings Field Associates) - to deliver effective cognitive and behavioural therapy to treat depression and anxiety disorders.
  • Understanding Autism Course, Level 2 (2024) - experienced and qualified in understanding the signs and symptoms presenting with an Autism and ADHD diagnosis or suspected diagnosis, and associated support and strategies.
  • A fully qualified and highly experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist

My location

We can meet for sessions online or by telephone. Numerous studies and NHS research has found online counselling and remote therapy to be just as effective as visiting a counsellor or therapist face to face. Some clients who can choose how to meet prefer online counselling because they find it gives them more flexibility and comfort.

Fees

Counselling Session: £75 - 50 mins - Free 20-min introductory call

Supervision Session: £95 - 60 mins , £120 - 90 mins

Insurance

I am a recognised healthcare professional providing counselling services for major UK and international health insurance companies. I am registered with these Insurance Providers; AXA, Allianz, Aviva, BUPA, WPA, Vitality. Please ask about fees as these are slightly different to account for necessary admin and invoicing. Please let me know the pre-authorisation code from your insurer so I can invoice them directly.
